Meet Our Doctors

David Konys, DDS and Carolyn B. Dragon, DMD

Carolyn Dragon, DMD, MSD

Dr. Carolyn Dragon knew she wanted to be a dentist since she was 13 years old.  The daughter of an accountant and a toxicologist, dentistry is not exactly in Carolyn's blood (apart from twice-yearly dental check-ups and a few cavities she would rather not mention); however, teeth have become her passion.  Specifically, the straightening of teeth and the creation of a beautifully and functionally balanced smile.  Such a thing is truly a work of art and can be totally life-changing!

Carolyn is a native of Central New York and is a graduate of Canastota High School.  She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cornell University where she received her bachelor of science in biology, with a focus on Genetics and Development.  Following her time in Ithaca, NY, Dr. Dragon branched out to the Nutmeg State to complete her 4 years of dental school, graduating in 2017 with her D.M.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine.  During dental school, Carolyn was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, which recognizes both scholarship and character.  Carolyn then headed southward to obtain both her Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Dental Science degree from one of the top orthodontic programs in the country, at Virginia Commonwealth University.  Carolyn has been twice published in a respected orthodontic journal and has presented her research both nationally and internationally. Carolyn was thrilled to connect with Dr. Konys, finding in him someone with such compatible treatment and practice philosophies, and she loves being back home in the great state of New York!

Personally, Carolyn enjoys spending time with her husband, Tom, whom she met at Cornell where they both worked as student employees at the campus fitness centers.  Their enthusiasm for fitness thrives to this day, with their favorite hobbies including running, walking, spinning, weightlifting, cross-country skiing (the boring kind...not the hilly kind), and -- most recently -- ping pong.  Carolyn's passion for teeth is rivaled only by her passion for baking, and when she's not straightening teeth or taking in the great outdoors with Tom, she can almost certainly be found happily stationed in her kitchen experimenting with cookie recipes!

David Konys, DDS, MS

Practice Founder

Dr. Konys uses the phrase "Bright Smiles.......Bright Lives" in his practice because Orthodontic treatment creates more than just a healthy smile. Most patients also demonstrate improved self-esteem and confidence after completing our treatment. They certainly smile more and their future lives are brighter!

Dr. Konys is a native of Syracuse and a graduate of  Jamesville-DeWitt High School.  While attending Union College, in Schenectady, NY he was a dual major in Biology and Art. This pursuit enabled his enjoyment of the sciences while developing his natural artistic talents.  Upon receiving his bachelor of arts degree, Union College awarded him the William B. Jaffe award for his outstanding achievement in art.

It was his artistic talent that eventually lead him into the dental specialty of orthodontics.  This field is an expression of art and science and is a perfect fit for creative and academic talents.

Dr. Konys is also a graduate of Georgetown University School of Dentistry, in Washington, DC.  He completed his specialty orthodontic residency at the SUNY at Buffalo, where he received both his Certificate in Orthodontics and a Masters of Science degree.

His personal achievement as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics signifies an exceptional personal professional achievement.

Personally, Dr. Konys enjoys spending time with his family and their dog Carla.  He also enjoys outdoor activities including golf, skiing, fly fishing, boating, and archery. In his free time,  Dr. Konys can usually be found relaxing near the closest body of water with friends and family.

Artistically, Dr. Konys has continued his drawing and painting talents over the years, including the decor of his office walls.
